Treat every device and edge node as untrusted by default, enforce strong identity for both devices and the workloads running on them, and segment networks so a compromised device cannot pivot deeper into your environment. Physical security at edge sites is also part of the picture because remote locations are often less controlled than core data centers. The blast radius of a single compromised device should always be small by design.
