DataBank announced a strategic agreement to acquire four Houston-area data centers from CyrusOne for $670 million, significantly expanding its U.S. footprint and adding Texas’s fourth-largest metro to its portfolio. The deal positions DataBank as a major player in the Houston market, marking its 27th major U.S. metro and bringing more than 300,000 square feet of raised-floor capacity and 42.5 MW of critical IT load under its management.
The acquisition includes the CyrusOne Galleria data center at 4201 Southwest Freeway and three facilities on the Houston West Campus—West I, West II, and West III—located approximately 20 minutes west of downtown. The Houston West Campus also serves as a primary interconnection hub with access to over 30 fiber networks, 3,500 cross-connects, and public cloud on-ramps from AWS and Google, enhancing DataBank’s network reach and service capabilities.
DataBank CEO Raul Martynek highlighted the company’s deep Texas roots and strategic intent to bring its colocation, interconnection, and managed cloud services to the rapidly growing Houston technology market. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022, subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals.
