On July 26, 2021, DataBank announced plans to open its fifth data centre in the Denver market by acquiring an existing industrial facility at 6961 S. Quentin Street in Centennial, Colorado to develop the DEN5 site. The company intends to “rapidly retrofit” the 108,000-square-foot building to deliver approximately 75,000 square feet of raised flooring and 15 MW of UPS power, designed to support high-density computing, enterprise, and hyperscale workloads.

DEN5 will be carrier-neutral and strategically located adjacent to DataBank’s existing DEN2 data centre, which has been serving the region since 2011, creating a campus environment that leverages shared staff, resources, network, and carrier access to enhance deployment and scalability.

The initial phase of development will include one 30,000-square-foot data hall with 6 MW of power and room for two additional halls as demand grows. DataBank’s investment reflects strong customer demand for colocation, connectivity, and cloud services in Denver, which the company positions as a key growth market.

According to CEO Raul Martynek, the expansion not only boosts infrastructure capacity but also brings high-value IT operations jobs to the region while reinforcing Denver’s status as an enterprise-class data centre hub.
