DataBank Announces Expansion of MSP3 Data Center Near Minneapolis

Additional Capacity to Support Region’s Increasing Demand for High-Performance Computing

Dallas, TX – November 3, 2023 DataBank, a leading provider of enterprise-class colocation, connectivity, and managed services, announced today the expansion of one of its four Minneapolis area data centers (MSP3) on the Brooklyn Park Campus. To continue expanding its support of the region’s growing technology ecosystem, DataBank expects to complete the expansion in Q2 of 2024—adding 15,000 square feet of raised floor space and 4.5MW of Critical Power for server and networking gear racks.

Located at 8111 Oxbow Creek North on the 14-acre Brooklyn Park Campus, MSP3 was the first DataBank facility to open on the campus in 2021 and is just 20 minutes north of downtown Minneapolis. The data center also provides easy access to major interstates 394 and 494 as well as the Minneapolis−Saint Paul International Airport.

Dense power and chilled door cooling options make MSP3 ideal for the compute-intensive workloads of hyperscalers, content delivery networks, and Fortune 500 companies. The facility also allows customers to take advantage of the Minnesota state sales tax rebate on hardware, software, and software maintenance deployed at the site.

Powered by an Xcel Energy substation, MSP3 offers connectivity to other DataBank data centers—including the MSP4 carrier hotel in downtown Minneapolis and interconnect hubs at MSP2 in East Twin Cities. MSP3 currently features N+1 power and cooling designs along with a 9MW critical IT load to assure uptime for customer compute resources. The data center also complies with SSAE 18, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and GDPR standards and regulations.
