DataBank is expanding its IND1 data center in downtown Indianapolis, adding 6,500 square feet of raised floor space and 1MW of power. The 54,000 sq ft facility previously offered 4MW of power and 10,000 sq ft of raised floor, and is located near DataBank’s 10MW IND2 data center.

The expansion reflects Indianapolis’s growing importance as a Midwest data center hub, driven by the city’s accessibility, business-friendly climate, and talent pool. Danny Allen, DataBank’s VP of Engineering, emphasized the company’s commitment to the metro area and indicated that further expansions may follow based on market demand.

DataBank established IND1 and IND2 through its 2018 acquisition of Lightbound and recently completed the acquisition of zColo. The company also issued over $750 million in secured data center revenue notes to reduce financing costs and support future data center expansions or acquisitions.

With the IND1 expansion, DataBank strengthens its footprint in Indianapolis, providing additional capacity and power to meet growing demand from technology companies in the region.
