On April 13, 2023, DataCenter Dynamics reported that DataBank has completed the expansion of its SNA2 data center in Irvine, California, adding significant capacity to support growth in the Orange County market. The expansion increased the facility’s size by 24,000 square feet of raised floor space and added 4 megawatts (MW) of critical IT power, bringing the total build-out to 57,700 square feet and 8 MW of power capacity.
Located at 17400 Von Karman Avenue, the SNA2 facility sits close to DataBank’s other Irvine site, SNA1, and both serve as key colocation hubs with carrier-neutral connectivity options. DataBank originally announced plans for the expansion in April 2022, and has since completed the project to meet the rising demand for high-performance data center services in the region.
DataBank’s vice president of construction, Tony Qorri, emphasized that both Irvine facilities provide Tier III performance with redundant components and distribution pathways designed to support mission-critical IT environments with high uptime guarantees. The expansion reflects broader data center investment momentum and DataBank’s ongoing strategy to increase capacity across multiple U.S. markets.
