DataBank Completes Irvine Data Center Expansion

SNA2 Increases Capacity to Continue Meeting IT Requirements of the Orange County Tech Sector

Dallas, TX – April 12, 2023 – DataBank, a leading provider of enterprise-class colocation, connectivity, and managed services, announced today that the expansion of its SNA2 data center in Irvine, California is now complete. The additional 24,000 square feet of raised floor space—featuring 4 megawatts of critical power and a dedicated catcher reserve block—brings the facility’s total build-out to 57,700 square feet and 8 megawatts of critical IT power.

Located at 17400 Von Karman Avenue in downtown Irvine, DataBank increased the capacity of SNA2 to continue supporting the growing technology ecosystem in Orange County. The facility is located less than a half-mile from DataBank’s other Irvine data center, SNA1. Combined, the two data centers offer nearly 89,000 square feet of raised floor space and almost 11 megawatts of power.

DataBank governs both SNA2 and SNA1 to support the City of Irvine’s Strategic Technology Plan, providing a carrier-neutral interconnection hub with access to several on-site carriers and many internet, fiber, interconnect, and cross-connect options. The expansion of SNA2 also coincides with the trend of more tech jobs gravitating to the Orange County region than anywhere else in North America as many large firms—including Google, Blackberry, Oracle, and numerous digital gaming companies—tap into graduates of UC Irvine and other tech-centered universities.

SNA2 features a 2N power design and N+1 cooling while security measures include dual-factor authentication, 7x24x365 staffing, mantrap access, intrusion detection alarms, and CCTV. SNA2 also supports IT infrastructures that need to comply with SSAE18, SOC1, SOC2, HIPAA, GLBA, and PCI-DSS.
