DataBank has opened its second Pittsburgh data center, PIT2 , located in North Fayette Township, expanding its footprint to 20 facilities across nine U.S. markets. Strategically positioned west of the company’s downtown PIT1 facility, PIT2 delivers 40,000 square feet of raised floor space and up to 4.55MW of 2N redundant power and cooling. The facility offers carrier-neutral access to six onsite fiber providers and is connected to PIT1 via diverse dark fiber, enabling access to more than 25 additional networks through the region’s primary carrier hotel.
Situated on 17 acres of owned land, PIT2 provides room for future expansion to meet rising regional demand. The facility is designed to support Pittsburgh’s growing technology ecosystem, including artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicle development, and advanced biomedical research—sectors that require reliable, enterprise-grade colocation infrastructure.
Originally built for enterprise use, PIT2 was acquired from PNC Bank in 2019 and continues to house PNC as an anchor tenant under a long-term leaseback arrangement. Following the acquisition, DataBank made significant upgrades to the secure, three-story facility and will operate it under FISMA compliance standards. The opening of PIT2 underscores DataBank’s long-term commitment to the Pittsburgh market and its role in enabling regional innovation and economic growth.
