DataBank announced the opening of its sixth data center in Salt Lake City, designated SLC6, marking a strategic expansion in the growing Utah market. Situated on the company’s 23-acre Granite Point campus in Bluffdale, the facility adds 171,000 square feet of space, including 100,000 square feet of raised flooring, half of which is available for customers at launch, with the remainder coming online as demand grows. The center comprises two new data halls and currently supplies 11 MW of power, with an additional 11 MW to be activated in the future.
DataBank executives emphasize Utah’s rapid rise as a technology hub, driven by attractive real estate, strong internet infrastructure, and a deep talent pool, drawing both startups and enterprise customers. SLC6 builds on DataBank’s history in the region, following the earlier opening of SLC5 in 2020 and subsequent expansions. It joins five existing facilities on the campus and is part of a broader expansion strategy that has included acquisitions and growth in markets such as Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Irvine, San Diego, and Atlanta. This expansion reflects the company’s broader investment cycle following a significant capital raise and strategic recapitalization, positioning DataBank for continued growth across North America.
