DataBank, the edge data center operator owned by DigitalBridge Group, has purchased the building and land housing its DEN2 data center in Centennial, Colorado, as part of a strategy to “own and control” the real estate under its facilities rather than leasing them. The acquisition marks a shift toward greater long-term control of critical infrastructure assets, enabling DataBank to consolidate adjacent property it recently acquired and create an expanded campus for future growth.
The purchased DEN2 site will be joined with adjacent property previously acquired by the company to form an 11-acre “Centennial Campus,” featuring two data centers with more than 115,000 square feet of raised floor and over 20 megawatts of critical IT load power. Dedicated dark fiber links will connect the campus to DataBank’s downtown Denver carrier hotel, providing access to more than 90 carrier networks.
DataBank CEO Raul K. Martynek said the acquisition aligns with the company’s goal of expanding its edge data center footprint while responding to growing demand in the Denver market for colocation, connectivity, and cloud services. Owning property allows faster deployment of capacity and greater operational flexibility in meeting enterprise and hyperscale customer needs.
