DataBank has announced that Datum, the open network cloud for AI, has deployed network points of presence inside DataBank facilities in Ashburn, Dallas, and Salt Lake City. The three markets were chosen for their strategic value to the AI ecosystem: Ashburn as the largest interconnection hub in North America, Dallas as a growing central-U.S. exchange point, and Salt Lake City for its proximity to key West Coast neocloud and public cloud regions.
The deployment gives Datum’s customers the ability to connect distributed workloads across clouds and providers while applying consistent routing, policy, and observability from a single control plane. The partnership also carries personal history: DataBank CEO Raul Martynek first worked with Datum CEO Zac Smith in 2009, when both were part of the early Linux computing startup Voxel.
“Interconnection has traditionally taken place at the physical network layers, but developers and now AI agents are pushing increasing amounts of activity to the application layer. This evolution changes how and where digital platforms interact, which is why we’re excited to have companies like Datum in our ecosystem.”
— Kevin Ooley, President and CFO, DataBank
Datum’s platform includes an Envoy-based global edge, a microVM compute runtime, and an SRv6-powered networking layer designed to bring hyperscale-style connectivity and control to a new generation of AI infrastructure builders. DataBank’s geographic footprint across key interconnection markets makes it a natural partner for expanding that reach.
