Everyone, from the members of the Board of Directors to data center technicians at individual facilities, has a role to play within ESG at DataBank. Our ESG governance and oversight structure begins with our Board of Directors and cascades throughout the organization.
We believe that ESG programs should operate transparently. To that end, ESG metrics are shared with our investors and Board of Directors quarterly, and we produce an annual ESG report. Additionally, we report through GRESB and EcoVadis and align with SASB, TCFD, GHG Protocol, OECD, UN Global Compact and UN Sustainability Development Goals frameworks.. Through our focus on ESG, we have achieved Bronze status with EcoVadis. Our ESG reporting aligns with globally recognized frameworks.
DataBank’s initial Materiality Assessment was conducted in 2022. We engaged numerous stakeholders in open discussions and surveys to gain valuable insights that have informed our ESG strategy. Feedback for the materiality matrix was gathered from employees, the executive team, investors, and customers:
Beyond the materiality assessment, consistent and transparent stakeholder engagement is a standard best practice at DataBank. In addition to quarterly Board of Directors meetings, we engage with investors frequently through ad hoc touch points to discuss all elements of our business. Numerous employee initiatives, including engagement surveys, ensure frequent communication and feedback between employees and leadership. We engage with customers regularly throughout the year, during quarterly business reviews, and by requesting feedback via surveys. DataBank actively participates in community and public review discussions to ensure we have the best interests of our communities in mind as we undertake new projects. ESG is specifically addressed with stakeholders through these engagement avenues. DataBank does not take part in public policy advocacy or lobbying activities.
