“The Time for Trees initiative is not only increasing awareness around one of the world’s most critical environmental issues, but it is also improving the quality of life for generations to come,” said Raul K. Martynek, CEO of DataBank. “We feel honored to support the foundation and this important initiative.”
The Time for Trees initiative will address the critical loss of forests through active replanting efforts in areas as geographically and biologically diverse as the tropical rain forests and the iconic California national forests. Equally important, it will reach towns and cities around the globe to reduce tree gaps resulting from natural disasters, disease, insects, and development – creating a greener, healthier, and more sustainable communities. The Arbor Day Foundation is uniquely positioned to lead this movement due to its strong partnerships and widespread access to public and private land.
DataBank’s IAD3 facility will incorporate the latest modular design and energy-efficient technologies available today and demonstrates DataBank’s commitment to building environmentally sustainable data center solutions. An area rich in fiber connectivity and tech talent, Northern Virginia has a high concentration of enterprises, technology, cloud computing, hyperscale cloud providers, and content providers that require dense interconnection and proximity to best-in-class data center infrastructure.
Founded in 1972, the Arbor Day Foundation has grown to become the largest nonprofit membership organization dedicated to planting trees, with more than one million members, supporters, and valued partners. During the last 45 years, more than 300 million Arbor Day Foundation trees have been planted in neighborhoods, communities, cities and forests throughout the world. Our vision is to help others understand and use trees as a solution to many of the global issues we face today, including air quality, water quality, climate change, deforestation, poverty and hunger.
