Kindness in Action: A Powerful Collective Effort

At DataBank, we believe that infrastructure isn’t just about power, cooling, and connectivity—it’s about the people behind it. That’s why giving back to the communities where we operate isn’t just an initiative; it’s part of who we are. Through employee-led programs and company-supported volunteer efforts, our team regularly demonstrates that technology companies can—and should—make a meaningful difference beyond the data center walls.

Our latest effort proved just how powerful collective action can be.

On April 29th and 30th, 143 DataBankers came together—virtually and in person—as part of our Kindness in Action Campaign, led by the Women of Databank employee resource group. The mission? To give back in a big way.

Together, we assembled over 650 Kindness Kits filled with essential items, which were distributed to shelters supporting women and people experiencing homelessness in Denver, Houston, Dallas, and Salt Lake City. These kits are more than supplies—they’re small acts of care that can make a big difference.

DataBank employees volunteered at the Kindness Kits Luncheon during our Kindness in Action Campaign to support women experiencing homelessness nationwide.

A heartfelt thank-you to Yvette Hamill-Graves for sharing the powerful story of Marian House, a Baltimore-based organization that helps women rebuild their lives after incarceration by providing housing, support services, and pathways to self-sufficiency. Her presentation reminded us why this work matters so much.

(If you missed it, we encourage you to seek out Marian House’s story, especially this video—their impact is truly inspiring.)

This initiative wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our incredible organizers—Teresa Scott , Jodi Bell , Jessica PhlegarChantelle Burton , Moira McEwan , Lissa Harr, and Diane Coston —who brought our in-person events to life with passion and care.

Why This Matters

Corporate social responsibility isn’t just a buzzword at DataBank—it’s woven into our culture through employee resource groups like Women of DataBank, which empower team members to lead initiatives they’re passionate about. When employees drive these efforts, the impact is more authentic, more personal, and ultimately more meaningful for both those giving and those receiving.

The success of Kindness in Action reflects our commitment to supporting the communities that support us. As we continue growing our data center footprint across the country, we’re equally committed to growing our positive impact in each market we serve.

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and made this campaign possible. It’s moments like these that demonstrate what it truly means to work at a company that puts people first—not just as customers, but as neighbors, community members, and human beings deserving of dignity and support.
